I’m only vaguely familiar with the work of Rosanne Cash. One of my clients, Steve Lippman, did an amazing music film in 2006 called Mariners & Musicians that features music from her album ‘Black Cadillac’. View an excerpt. Other than that, my consciousness of her work was next to nil.
Last week, Rosanne was on WNYC’s Soundcheck with John Shaefer talking about her new album ‘The List’. The album’s tracks and title come from a list of essential songs given to Rosanne by her father Johnny Cash when she was a teenager. As I listened to the live broadcast, I kinda fell for her. Her music – and her conversation about it – was amazing. Beyond that, she’s hilarious, which is my favorite quality in anyone.
