I had been hearing a lot about TweetDeck a lot in .net Magazine, my web design monthly of choice.  The latest issue of .net features the 2010 .net Awards.  The emphasis on the .net Awards this year has been on user experience and how technologies have been “pushed to the limit.”  Among the well-deserved awards and honorable mentions in the issue, my favorite was TweetDeck.

TweetDeck is a web application that basically serves as a dashboard for your social networking life.  It serves your accounts in Twitter (for which TweetDeck was originally built last year), Facebook, MySpace and now LinkedIn.  Post updates, links, photos, hashtags and even translations to any or all of your social network accounts.  You can also follow the feeds of all your friends and connections in these networks.  It’s brilliant.

Currently, I’m looking at the updates of my friends on Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn, all updated (with polite alerts, if you choose) in real time.

Built with Adobe AIR, TweetDeck is a free standalone application that you download and install in your computer like any new application. Even better… there is also a free iPhone app version.  You must create your TweetDeck account (also free) and have your account info for your Twitter, Facebook, MySpace and LinkedIn accounts on hand. It’s super easy.

Like .net, I cannot recommend TweetDeck strongly enough for active users of Twitter, Facebook, MySpace and/or LinkedIn.
