David Pogue, tech guru at The New York Times, wrote a fantastic piece in his State of the Art/Personal Tech column about the very basics of the most popular social networking websites: Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Foursquare and Yelp.

The article is a must-read for anyone trying to wrap his or her brain around what these sites are, what they can do for you, and what they won’t do for you. Well written in classic Pogue style, the piece was helpful for someone more initiated than average, like myself.
